My Secret Paradise Revisited

I’m feeling somewhat nostalgic about My Secret Paradise - the small resort town of La Manzanilla on Mexico’s Costa Alegre - so I thought I would share with you my adventure from March 2007. Hope to see you down there - there’s enough beach and sun for all of us. Cocktails at El Quetzal!

    Hey Bus,

Sweet job on the video clip, bro! It really captures the beautiful and eclectic panorama that is La Manzananilla.

[…] 45 minutes north of the Manzanillo Airport on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Affectionately known as “My Secret Paradise”(a nickname that I coined), La Manzanilla is not really a secret anymore - the cat has been out […]

    Dear Bus,

I thought I had discovered La Manzanilla, Jolanda’s and Posada Tonola, but as you say, “the cat is out.”

I wrote a short article for Ourmexico.com titled The Coastal Road to La Manzanilla. It’s under stories, part of Forty Days: On the Road in Mexico: Travel, Adventures and Discovery.

Nice to see La Manzanilla again via your video.

    Thanks,

    Dick Davis

The cat has been out of the bag on La Manzanilla for some time, but it is still a relatively mellow place. By the way, Jolandas moved to a larger space on the beach and El Girasol has been sold and will reopen in time for high season.

  5. Dick Davis Says:

    Dear Hanumann,

Here’s another cat still in the bag. May I suggest Zacatlan de las Manzanas, Mexico’s Brigadoon. No beaches, but of hot-springs and temascals. You can Google, or: http://www.ourmexico.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48:zacatlan-de-las-manzanas-mexicos-brigadoon&catid=34:travel&Itemid=81

    Sorry, that is one address.

    Best regards,

    Dick

You captured part of the ambience of the small fishing village that La Manzanilla still is, even with all of the change that continues as others discover it’s natural beauty and solitude.

    Tks for your rendition!
